El Mesón rural house in Briones
El Mesón consists of 8 double rooms4 with double beds and the other 4 with twin beds. All of them are named after the different grape varieties that the DOC Rioja has at its disposal.
The house also has a large garden where you can enjoy the shade of its trees.
Served continental breakfaststarting with something savoury, "lomo, cheese, york, serrano ham...", fresh orange juice, fruit, yoghurt, toast with jam and butter, sponge cake or pastries and local oil.
The entry time at the house is at 14:00h (flexible) and at the exit 12:00h at the latest to allow time for the rooms to be cleaned and tidied.
The rental is made, by rooms and also as a complete house.

A fully equipped rural house in Briones
The rooms del Mesón are all located in the first floorwhere there is also a small reading room and TV.
At ground floor There is another larger lounge with TV, board games and sofas for relaxation.
And since 2012, in an annex building connected to the main house by the garden, a new building has been created. "El Rincón" (The Corner) where there is a large kitchen gastronomic society" type, a good barbecue to make chops with vine shoots, a large dining room and a lounge for resting after having eaten.
We have in front of the house a vegetable gardenwith various types of tomatoes, peppers, chilli peppers, onions... for those who want to try them for breakfast.
El Mesón, taking care of its guests since 1998
The rural house El Mesón began its activity in the year 1998with the thought; that in Briones there is nothing to accommodate travellers arriving in the village.
With that in mind, and in the spirit of to make Briones knownThe effort, and a lot of hard work, to carry out the idea of the Rural House.
The works The demolition of the roof, stables and hayloft began in December 1999. Leaving the house ready for the beginning of the reconstruction, which starts on 9 January 2000 and last for 8 months.
Finally, on 24 August this year 2000 we open the doors of El Mesónhosting the first guest.
So the years have gone by and various refurbishments of the house which originally consisted of 7 rooms, with the living/dining room located on the first floor.
However, in order to minimise the inconvenience to customers who have a little more rest than others, we have been working in the year 2005 the first refurbishmentThe new living room has been replaced by a living room, a new bedroom and stairs leading to the new living room on the ground floor.
What is now the garden, which once had a small vineyard, was also remodelled so that guests could see the vines, the grapes and of course eat them. Today the garden has different kinds of trees, Olive trees, Pomegranate trees, Pine trees, Elm trees..., an important part of grassand of course, one strain of each variety of DOC Rioja.
Since from the beginning, many families and friends have asked us to rent the entire house, in the 2012 we removed part of the garden and vineyard and incorporated a new building that today we call "El Rincón" (The Corner).
The garden serves as a union of the two buildingsThe house's bedroom and the corner with the kitchen and dining room.
It has heating by biomass.
A rural house in Briones with a lot of history
The name of the Mesón, is maintained from what this building had been in the 20th century, A MESÓN, where Maricruz's grandparentsThey lived and sold wine and housed the travellers who arrived by train and cart to buy the prized "broth" of La Rioja, as the connoisseurs say today.
Since 1998 Maricruz and Jesús made it the first Rural House in Briones.
Briones one of the most spectacular villages in La Rioja
Briones is considered one of the most beautiful villages in La Rioja with an old town where history in the air and an environment from which to enjoy the wine landscape of La Rioja Alta in all its splendour.
Near Briones is San Vicente de la Sonsierra from where you can enjoy unique views.
A few kilometres from St. Vincent is the Hermitage of Santa María de la Piscina a Romanesque jewel built by the Templars and with a necropolis at its feet.
Harois located 8.5km from Briones and is home to the highest concentration of century-old wineries world.
