La Rioja es peque\u00f1a\u2026 pero no est\u00e1 entre las provincias m\u00e1s despobladas de Espa\u00f1a<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Rioja es <strong>la comunidad aut\u00f3noma m\u00e1s peque\u00f1a de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong> por superficie y, adem\u00e1s, una de las comunidades uniprovincial de la Pen\u00ednsula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En cuanto a poblaci\u00f3n, ocupa uno de los \u00faltimos puestos del ranking provincial: cerca de <strong>330.000 habitantes,<\/strong> situ\u00e1ndose en el puesto 40 entre las provincias espa\u00f1olas por n\u00famero de habitantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pero aqu\u00ed llega el dato curioso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si hablamos de <strong>densidad de poblaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, la posici\u00f3n de La Rioja cambia considerablemente escalando hastael puesto 26. Sus aproximadamente 65 habitantes por kil\u00f3metro cuadrado hacen que no se encuentre entre las provincias m\u00e1s despobladas de Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adem\u00e1s, la comunidad est\u00e1 formada por <strong>174 municipios<\/strong> y la concentraci\u00f3n de poblaci\u00f3n es enorme: solo <strong>9 municipios superan los 5.000 habitantes<\/strong>. De hecho, tres de cada cuatro municipios riojanos tienen menos de 500 habitantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. N\u00e1jera fue capital de un reino medieval<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/502136-1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"769\" src=\"https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/502136-1-1024x769.jpg\" alt=\"Reino de N\u00e1jera\" class=\"wp-image-11074\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/502136-1-1024x769.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/502136-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/502136-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/502136-1-16x12.jpg 16w, https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/502136-1.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mucho antes de que Logro\u00f1o se convirtiera en la capital de La Rioja, otra ciudad riojana tuvo un <strong>papel pol\u00edtico de primer nivel.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hablamos de <strong>N\u00e1jera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En el <strong>siglo X,<\/strong> N\u00e1jera se convirti\u00f3 en capital del Reino de N\u00e1jera-Pamplona, <strong>despu\u00e9s de que Sancho Garc\u00e9s I trasladara all\u00ed la capital desde Pamplona.<\/strong> Durante los siglos siguientes, la ciudad estuvo estrechamente vinculada a la monarqu\u00eda navarra y lleg\u00f3 a tener una enorme importancia pol\u00edtica y religiosa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Con <strong>Sancho III el Mayor<\/strong>, a comienzos del siglo XI, el reino alcanz\u00f3 una gran extensi\u00f3n territorial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Y hay otro detalle fascinante: <strong>el rey Garc\u00eda S\u00e1nchez III<\/strong>, conocido como <strong>\u00abel de N\u00e1jera\u00bb<\/strong>, naci\u00f3 y fue enterrado en la ciudad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Por eso, cuando pasees por N\u00e1jera, no est\u00e1s simplemente visitando una localidad riojana: est\u00e1s caminando por una <strong>antigua capital medieval cuyo monasterio alberga decenas de tumbas de personajes de la realeza.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. La Rioja tambi\u00e9n es monta\u00f1a y bosque<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/sierra-riojana.jpg\"><img pensamos en el paisaje riojano, probablemente la primera imagen que nos viene a la cabeza es <strong>una hilera de vi\u00f1as.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pero basta con desplazarse unos kil\u00f3metros hacia el sur para <strong>descubrir una Rioja completamente diferente.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La <strong>sierra riojana<\/strong> ocupan buena parte del territorio y ofrece <strong>algunos de los<\/strong> <strong>paisajes naturales m\u00e1s espectaculares de la comunidad:<\/strong> monta\u00f1as, bosques, barrancos, r\u00edos, peque\u00f1os pueblos, ermitas, caminos y valles que cambian por completo la imagen que muchos visitantes tienen de La Rioja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Sierra de la Demanda, los Cameros, el valle del Cidacos o los valles del Leza y el Jubera muestran <strong>una cara mucho m\u00e1s verde y monta\u00f1osa de la regi\u00f3n.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Es precisamente esa diversidad la que hace tan especial a La Rioja: <strong>el paisaje del vi\u00f1edo convive con la alta monta\u00f1a, los bosques y los peque\u00f1os valles rurales<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div Con 20 a\u00f1os abandon\u00f3 el pastoreo para iniciar una vida asc\u00e9tica y peregrin\u00f3 hasta los Riscos de Bilibio, cerca de Haro, donde recibi\u00f3 las ense\u00f1anzas de <strong>San Felices<\/strong>, con quien permaneci\u00f3 durante tres a\u00f1os. Posteriormente se retir\u00f3 de nuevo a los montes Cogollos, donde vivi\u00f3 durante d\u00e9cadas como ermita\u00f1o, atribuy\u00e9ndosele varios milagros a lo largo de su vida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. D\u00e9cadas despu\u00e9s, en 1991, Rioja se convirti\u00f3 en la <strong>primera Denominaci\u00f3n de Origen Calificada de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>La categor\u00eda DOCa supuso un paso m\u00e1s en el sistema de protecci\u00f3n y control de la calidad del vino<\/strong> y convirti\u00f3 a Rioja en un referente dentro del modelo vitivin\u00edcola espa\u00f1ol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La cultura del vino, por tanto, no es simplemente una actividad econ\u00f3mica en la regi\u00f3n. Forma parte de una <strong>tradici\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica<\/strong> que ha evolucionado durante siglos y que hoy constituye uno de los principales elementos de identidad de La Rioja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p Espartero, el riojano que lleg\u00f3 a ser Pr\u00edncipe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/abrazo-de-vergara.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"751\" height=\"496\" src=\"https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/abrazo-de-vergara.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11793\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/abrazo-de-vergara.png 751w, https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/abrazo-de-vergara-300x198.png 300w, https:\/\/lariojapremium.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/abrazo-de-vergara-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 751px) 100vw, 751px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uno de los personajes hist\u00f3ricos m\u00e1s estrechamente vinculados a Logro\u00f1o es <strong>Baldomero Espartero<\/strong>, militar y pol\u00edtico del siglo XIX, que lleg\u00f3 a convertirse en una de las figuras m\u00e1s influyentes de la Espa\u00f1a de su tiempo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fue regente de Espa\u00f1a durante la minor\u00eda de edad de Isabel II y recibi\u00f3 numerosos reconocimientos y t\u00edtulos, entre ellos <strong>Duque de la Victoria, Conde de Luchana y Pr\u00edncipe de Vergara<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Y aqu\u00ed est\u00e1 la curiosidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cuando <strong>Alfonso XII<\/strong> lleg\u00f3 al trono, quiso contar con el prestigio y la experiencia pol\u00edtica de Espartero. En 1875, el joven rey le concedi\u00f3 el t\u00edtulo de <strong>Pr\u00edncipe de Vergara<\/strong> y busc\u00f3 su consejo y apoyo en un momento especialmente delicado para la monarqu\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Espartero, ya retirado de la primera l\u00ednea pol\u00edtica, mantuvo una relaci\u00f3n de respeto y cercan\u00eda con el monarca, aunque <strong>no volvi\u00f3 a ocupar un papel pol\u00edtico activo.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Su v\u00ednculo con Logro\u00f1o fue, sin embargo, mucho m\u00e1s profundo. Vivi\u00f3 durante d\u00e9cadas en la ciudad junto a su esposa, <strong>Mar\u00eda Jacinta Mart\u00ednez de Sicilia<\/strong>, y ambos dejaron una importante huella en la historia de la capital riojana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La que fue su residencia es hoy el <strong>Museo de La Rioja<\/strong>, uno de los edificios hist\u00f3ricos m\u00e1s destacados de Logro\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Podemos encontrar su figura en uno de los lugares m\u00e1s emblem\u00e1ticos de la ciudad: <strong>el Paseo del Espol\u00f3n<\/strong>, donde se encuentra su monumental estatua ecuestre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Antes de los vi\u00f1edos, antes de los monasterios y mucho antes de que existieran los pueblos actuales, <strong>los dinosaurios caminaban por lo que hoy conocemos como La Rioja<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Y no se trata de una peque\u00f1a curiosidad paleontol\u00f3gica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La Rioja cuenta con uno de los conjuntos de icnitas, huellas f\u00f3siles de dinosaurios, m\u00e1s importantes del mundo.
