Experience among vineyards, visit to a Romanesque church and tasting session
Walk among the vineyards in a unique setting at the foot of the Obarenes Mountains followed by the visit to our Romanesque jewel, the 12th-13th century Church of San Julián, located in Castilseco, just a few metres from the winery.
Then, once in the winery, the wine cellar is used for a brief explanation of the manufacturing processes, ending with a tasting of 5 wines and sampling of local products.

Rual : Bodegas Ruiz Alfaya:
Tempranillo Red: Red wine with purple to violet tones and good colour intensity.
From deep nose, Pleasant, with hints of ripe red fruit, candyfloss and a violet background.
Tempranillo White: White wine from greenish yellow tones, clean and bright.
It has the virtue of harmonising a high alcohol content with a marked acidity, which prolongs the pleasant sensation of the wine.
Rosé Rual: Rosé wine of onion-skin coloured.
Easy on the palate, long and complex, giving way to a markedly fresh, acidic perception on the sides of the tongue with a hint of Aftertaste of white flowers and white peach.
White Viura: White wine with greenish yellow tones, clean and bright.
Easy and pleasant on entry, with a markedly fresh, acidic sensation on the sides of the tongue and an aftertaste of citrus fruits.

El Capricho de Ana: Grenache 100%.
Own vineyards at the foot of the Obarenes Mountains. Estate called "San Juan del Espino". Year of planting 2002.
Rual signature red wine: Tempranillo 100%.
Own vineyards located in the foothills of the Obarenes Mountains, at an altitude of approximately 550m.
Tempranillo Barrica: Lemon yellow white wine.
The vineyards are selected by monitoring the ripening of the grapes. The grapes are harvested by hand in 25 kg crates. Harvesting begins early so that the grapes are at low temperatures.
Crianza white wine: Tempranillo 100%.

A family winery in the village of Castilseco
Bodegas Ruiz Alfaya, is a family winery where we cultivate our own vineyards in a privileged area at the foot of the Obarenes Mountains in Castilseco, Rioja Alta.
We care for our vineyards with the passion that has been passed down to us from generations past, combining history and culture of this marvellous enclave that is Castilseco.
The winery has its own vineyards, an extension of 17 hectares, located in Rioja Alta, between the municipalities of Sajazarra, Cuzcurrita de Rio Tirón and Villalba de Rioja. The largest percentage of hectares are located in Castilseco, where the winery is also located.
We have a privileged location in the foothills of the Obarenes Mountains, The climate is predominantly Atlantic with a moderate Atlantic climate, with calcareous and clayey soils of gentle relief.
On the 17 hectares Tempranillo Tinto predominates, but we also have other varieties such as: Garnacha Tinta, Viura and Tempranillo Blanco.
All of these characteristics help us to ensure that the production of our wines RUAL and CAPRICHO DE ANA, develop a balanced acidity, are aromatic, elegant and classy wines.
Although the family has always made wine, the joint project is born in 2018 when Ana (oenologist and owner) joined the farm after the death of her father-in-law.
The new tasting room is opened together with the winebar opening in July 2022, offering the different wine tourism experiences where all the work involved in winemaking is transmitted, from the vineyards to the marketing of the wines, as well as the culture of Castilseco, Romanesque and wine tourism.
From 2024 the familiar depth so that it can also be used as a tasting room.
Castilseco a village at the foot of the Obarenes Mountains
Castilseco is a small village in La Rioja Alta with only a few kilometres of 14 inhabitants at the feet of the Obarenes Mountains which highlights its Romanesque Church of San Julián.
Belonging to the Haro region, Castilseco is surrounded by vineyards and charming villages such as Cellorigo, Sajazarra and Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón.
It is also the ideal place to make acquaintances hiking routes in the Obarenes Mountains bordering the province of Burgos.
